By the way, this does not have to be a flaming highspeed Pwhatever
Ghz speed machine, in fact old 486's will do just fine for those
machines that do not have sound cards for modems. If you need to
add a sound card or cards then you will need a high end 486 or a
low end pentium to keep up with the sound card demands (as I have
been able to observe on the LINUX HAMS list. By way linux hams is
a very good list to keep up with a lot of neat stuff that is going
on in that world, also there is a lot of interchange of ideas and
code. A lot of the results can be pulled off of sourceforge and
freshmeat.
Well folks I am off to re-image 4 Win2K machines 3 WinNT machines
and a Win98 machine at work. I will have a long night ahead of me,
sure wish that they were all Win2K, the NT boxen are reboot hell.
By the time all is loaded and ready for the application to be
installed I have gone through 7 reboots. I think Win2k only demands
1.

It is possible The Light is coming on in Deltona....
My question is hardware related:
To pull off this "LINUX FPAC box" does that require running FPAC/LINUX in
the computer AND having some hardware interface"box" other than comports
out to TNCs, radios, phone lines, etc?
Rick KN6KB - see below - does this work for your SMS stuff where we have an
internet connection at the "LINUX FPAC box"?
Man, we may be getting there...
