No, you just replace the computer or just the code in the computer and
you are ready to go. For what we need, the French guys have run LINUX
FPAC with the IP stack on a floppy! In fact I had a image around here
somewhere and on a whim, one day I stuck it in my DOS FPAC switch and
rebooted and the thing came up. Of course it was set up for SCC cards
which I do not have, but if I had taken the time I could have gone in
and edited the files to talk to serial ports instead of SCC cards and
it WOULD have started talking to my TNC's
Here is the next point, you can use the sound card drivers and in some
cases totally eliminate the TNC. The sound card becomes the interface
to the radio. I think there are drivers for speeds up to 19k2.
The simplest one to get going is where you just use the serial ports
and the present setup.

I have attached a Power Point drawing of what I have here as the kp4djt
DOS FPAC switch, and added to it what can be added to LINUX FPAC.
There should be notes in a small window below the slide with a description
of what is there.
