Hi Everyone,
Here is some background on tonight's meeting topic and our speaker, 
Bryan McPhee.
Bryan McPhee will be speaking about avionics, specifically
         navigation from an engineering and user viewpoint. He will 
cover
         the gamut of applications in this field, beginning with
         primitive navigation, through non-directional beacons,
         telemetry, VOR's, the Apollo Guidance Computer, Tacan's, Loran
         A, C, D, Omega, Doppler and Search Radar, Dead Reckoning
         Computer, INS and GPS.

Bryan has a Bachelor of Education from Keene State College (Teaching 
Science
  in Secondary Schools with minors in Chemistry and Electronics) he has 
a
  B.S.E.E.T from Trenton State College T.C.N.J) and an MBA from Monmouth
College. he attended several schools in the Air Force, O.T.S, U.N.T,
S.O.S, Survival School, C-141 Upgrade School.I spent thousands of hours

Most
  of his Engineering was done as a contractor, P.P.P.L T.F.TR Fusion
Reactor, GE Astro Satellites, PA Consulting custom laptop programmer for
  the first implantable defib. and pacer. Aydin Vector P.C.M Telemetry
Systems built with thick film hybrids, Denton Vacuum and Consarc
Specialty Furnaces.

Teaching
  experience, all Physical Sciences including Physics, Chemistry,
Physical, Earth. He also taught Engineering concepts and Computer
Applications. Most of his work was done in N.J. Abbott School Districts. 
He
  also taught Engineering at the Advanced Studies Program at St. Paul's
School in N.H.

Star East Buffet, 311 Nassau Park Blvd, Princeton, NJ 08540
(same location as our annual holiday party) at 6:15 PM.

ARES/RACES - Members are encouraged to register themselves with Mercer
County ARES/RACES. To do so, just send an e-mail to the Mercer County
EC, Kip Burnett at kb2egi at arrl.net for more information.

Two local emergency stations are supported by DSRC. N2ARC is the
callsign at the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey, the lead
American Red Cross chapter in the event of a statewide emergency. W2MER
is the callsign at the Mercer County Emergency Operations Center,
located at the Dempster Fire Service Training School.

"Open houses" are held the last Monday of each month (except December
and May) at 7:15 PM at both the American Red Cross, 707 Alexander Rd
(2 blocks east of Rt 1, use rear entrance) and at the Mercer County EOC
located on Lawrence Station Road. Lawrence Station Road is a right turn
off of Quakerbridge Road about one half mile south of Quakerbridge Mall.
Just follow the signs to the fire school. The Mercer County EOC is in
the basement.

MEMBERSHIP - Club membership is open to anyone with an interest in
amateur radio. There are no dues. To become a member, simply attend a
club meeting and fill-out a membership application. If you would like
