Minutes
for the Meeting on February
28th, 2013
Electronic
Technology Society of New Jersey (ETS of NJ)

The Meeting was
called to order by President Jeff Lin N2VHV at 8:15 PM. This was
followed by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and then by
self-introductions of all those in attendance.
Meeting Minutes
As the minutes from
the last meeting had been sent to all members via e-mail, Jeff N2VHV
asked for a motion to dispense with the formal reading. A motion was
made by Walter W2WIQ and seconded by Don K2DSV. Motion was approved.

Closing balance -
$XXXX.XX
Last year at this
time our balance was $XXXX.XX– we are “up” $XXX.XX from this
point last year.
Several notes from
Vic:
1) Our Verizon bill
has gone up. Our old bill averaged around $43.77 – recently, due to
rate and tax increases it comes in at about $51.84. Or roughly about
$96.00 more per year.
Holiday party –
The pizza bill of $148.50 was paid in full by Frank KG2CJ.
At this point, a
motion was made by Drew W2OU and seconded by Jeff N2VHV for Vic to
send our annual $25.00 donation to QSL.NET, who hosts our mailing
list. Motion was passed unanimously.
Hank N2MU asked why
the dollar amounts are blanked out in the e-mail portion of the
minutes that are sent out. Harvin K2CPA and Rich W2PQ mentioned that
this is done for security purposes.
Correspondence
None.
Technical Report
Jeff N2VHV mentioned
that the linking of the repeaters through the website has been
working fine.
Rich KB2LLM reported
that everything is running pretty well. Don K2DSV brought up an issue
whereby there seems to be a lot of audio distortion when the ETS and
RVRC repeaters are linked.
Rich reported that
the announcements disappear when the repeater is in “net mode”.
The 220 repeater is
still running barefoot. Supposedly, the new amplifier was being
shipped the day of the meeting from MFJ. The reason for the delay was
given that MFJ waits until a certain number of amps are ordered to
make it feasible for them to perform a production run.
Old Business
Picnic – Picnic
space has been reserved for June 8th. It will run from
11:00 AM to whenever. The price and menu will remain the same this
year.
New Business
N2VHV proposed that
the club dismiss KG2CJ's dues for the year, due Frank's generosity in
supplying the pizza for the Christmas party. KB2LLM seconded the
motion, and a show of hands made it unanimous.
The club agreed to
make it's annual donation to the hospice where his sister, Elizabeth
Kolibas was cared for before her passing.
Health and
Welfare
Nothing
Good of the club
Rich W2PQ and Russ N2LHG brought up the fact that Hams should be
cautious when buying LED lighting as some brands are notorious RF
generators.
Adjournment
A motion was made to
adjourn the meeting by Mike N2JUN and was seconded by Walter W2WIQ
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 PM
Respectfully
Submitted,
Larry W2LJ
