ETS Members,

It has been the consensus of many who purchase capacitors, including myself,
that the capacitors sold by Antique Electronics are from old stock that they
have acquired over the years through buyouts. Bill Carns, N7OTQ sets the
record straight.

All, PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS - Be advised............Antique Electronics
does not sell floor sweepings and just NOS capacitors.
That never was the case and definitely is not now.
Antique Electronics @ tubesandmore.com bought the old Sprague capacitor
line, tooling and all, built a huge new addition to their already large
building in Tempe Arizona, hired some of the retired Sprague capacitor
engineers as consultants during the start up process and set up new
manufacturing capability for HV electrolytics. This happened some years
ago.
I am guessing more than 5 and less than 10. I don't remember for sure.
They have continued to stay at the leading edge of capacitor technology and
their capacitors are built on the Sprague tooling with state-of-the-art
technology and are brand new first class stuff.
I used to work and eventually had a city home within several miles of
Antique Electronics, knew the original George(s) Fathauer before they sold
the business to the new owner and it and they are a first class
organization
carefully testing everything that they do sell in the way of NOS tubes and
 components.
Antique Electronics has, over the years, been very responsive to the Collins
needs building special order Collins replacement capacitors and
transformers
particularly and I do not want to damage our relationship with them.
We are in the process of trying to put in place an arrangement where AE
builds and stocks some more of the impossible to get capacitors for the S
and A line stuff. The economy and the loss of several industrial suppliers
of extruded aluminum cans has slowed this down, but we are trying to make it
happen. They already have built several caps that are available for Collins
 collectors.
A personal friend of mine is a consultant for them in HV tube testing and
life test and he and I are very familiar with what they do there. I have no
financial interest in AE of Tempe. I just thought you should know the
facts.
 Best Regards,
