TO ALL HAM RADIO GROUPS

During the three-day weekend of June 23rd, 24th, 25th, 2006 there will 
be the Emergency Preparedness Weekend Event at the Wm. H. Pouch BSA camp 
located in Staten Island NY.

Local Emergency Services such as Police, Fire, CERT and Hospital 
Ambulance services will be providing demonstrations throughout this 
three-day weekend. A Field Day operation and Ham related presentations 
will be given by the Empire Contest Club.

Campsites are available for weekend campouts to any registered Boy Scout 
Troop.

I am personally extending this open invitation to your group or to any 
individual within your group who would like to attend or become part of 
this event. Our goal is to coordinate and help establish Emergency 
Communication units within the area providing if any the needed training 
to both youths and adults interested in our program. The Ham Radio 
station located within the Wm. H. Pouch BSA camp is intended for use 
during these training programs and as the primary emergency 
communication site for Staten Island. Contest operations from this 
station location has shown the great potential of the station. Results 
being 3rd place in the ARRL 2006 DX Phone Multi-Single and a new record 
set in the 2006 CQ WPX Single-Op.

An ARRL affiliated licensing test session will be held on Sunday June 
25th starting at 12 noon. This is the first test session being held by 
this group therefor pre-registration will be required. Additional VE’s 
are needed. Please feel free to volunteer your help by contacting me.
