Gentlemen,

Since you are a New Jersey club, I hope you can help me with some
information.  I just read in the Dallas Morning News that New Jersey has a
law forbidding young drivers from using a "cell phone or other wireless
device" while driving.

What is the conventional wisdom on this matter?  Does this law ban young
hams from operating mobile ham radios since ham radio is technically
"wireless"?

If so, was there any opposition from the ham community when a state
restricted a federally licensed and federally regulated radio service?

We have nothing like this here in Texas, but some have suggested it.
Perhaps you can tell me how the restriction affects mobile ham operation.
