Hi All, and especially Ken, NA0Y,
Thanks for all the hints. It took an hour or so to get the fan motor
out and disassembled, but I did it over the weekend and this morning I got a
couple of new bearings for under $7.00 incl. sales tax.
A friend has a puller and we used a drill press with adaptors to push on
the new bearings... a 15 minute job, off and on including hunting for the
right tools.
It took another hour ++ to get the fan installed and running and the amp
closed up. I did put insulated spade lug connectors on the fan leads while
I had it out. Also I checked the motor starting capacitor, rated at 2 mfd,
with 2.2 actual on my meter. It is whirring along now.
Thanks again for all the hints.
