[Elecraft] Working split on K2 on different sidebands

Hey folks...
I thought I had done this before but maybe not.  Working WAR for Armed Forces Day on crossband split: K2 on RX 7305USB and the Pentagon was listening on 7284LSB.  The K2 would only work split in the same sideband as the RX was set to.  Setting VFO B to LSB didn't matter when I keyed to transmit, the radio showed USB following the VFO A or RX in this scenario.

Do I have something set wrong or this just the way it is?  

K2 has latest firmware on all modules.

PS: I worked him by manually switching between sidebands each time I transmitted and received.
