Yes, the KPA500 Remote software has been in used for this for many years
(as well as the KAT500 Remote software). Download here:

This requires a PC in the shack to be running at all times, connected by
USB-to-Serial adapter to the KPA500 and KAT500. If you're trying to avoid
doing that, you can use a pair of MOXA boxes to create a remote serial port.

I am in the process of setting up my K4D, KPA500 and KAT500 station for

If you want it to power up in OPERATE mode, change KPA500 *MENU:PWR ON*
from *STBY* to *OPER*.
One solution suggested was a Hamation CR-5. Their support tells me you can

You don't need to access the CR-5 over the Internet. You don't need the
CR-5 unless you want to connect both the KPA500 Utility and the KPA500
Remote software at the same time to the same amplifier.
The Elecraft KPA500 remote control software indicates it can be controlled

Yes, you run KPA500 Remote in "Host" mode on your shack PC, and the same
KPA500 Remote remote software in "Client" mode ("Connect") on the remote
PC. This requires port forwarding in your Router to forward to the shack
PC's IP address.
Has anyone been able to accomplish this?

Yes. If you can't figure it out, contact me off list with your phone
number and I will help you configure it all.
