Good Evening,

    Smoke was persistent for much of the week.  The wind was from the 
northeast and east, where wildfires from both Oregon and Washington 
burned.  Yesterday the wind turned and much of the smoke cleared.  I got 
on to the roof and continued sweeping off fir needles.  I heard a faint 
squeal.  Then louder.  I stopped sweeping when it came back again.  Elks 
bugling in the canyon to the north of me.  Sound doesn't carry well when 
it has to climb a ridge of trees.

    The sun looks almost bare with a sunspot number of 72; but it has 
tossed a few CMEs at us during the week, even more today.  A geomagnetic 
storm from one of them is subsiding.  I expect noise and QSB, I like 
betting on a sure thing :)  What I am really hoping for is a few days of 
rain east of the Cascades.
