To counter the voltage drops on my "portable" battery systems, I always use an N8XJK booster. At the very end of its capacity (a weekend of mobile state QSO party activity with a K3), the booster and K3 shut down due to minimum voltage required. Works great...I get full output from the rig. The same applies to KX3/KXPA-100.Bert, N4CW/K1IMI

Voltage drop with Bioenno (or any LiFePO4 battery) is much less that AGM chemistry. I normally see a minimum of 12.8 or 12.9 volts, under load, until the "bitter end". Then it's a quick decline.

A consideration with the KXPA100 is that it requires a minimum of 13.8 volts to get 100w out. As the voltage drops below that amount, the output drops also. I owned one for 10 years and it didn't like operating from AGM batteries. At 12.6 volts I got around 80w. When running it as my base station, I set the power supply to 14.2 volts to maintain the 13.8 with the voltage drop across the power supply cable while transmitting.

I have the?KX-3. Considering adding the 100W amplifier which will only be used in the field. Not SOTA or hiking, car trips for POTA and, vacation use. I have a 20AH Bioenno battery that more than adequately powers KX-3 at 10-15W for QRP activations. I've considered 2 options: 1. Geta a higher capacity battery and run both radio and amp from one battery (think the 20AH will do?)?via the parallel power pole connection on the amp or 2. Just getting a separate battery for the amp. what are other folks' set ups? I seldom?on the air for more than 4 hours as the family/ spouse?looses patience. Thanks, Marc KM7AZ
