[Elecraft] KXPA Switches Off

I have a KX3 and the KXPA100 with the KXPA to KX3 Connector Cable. I have
been radio "inactive" for several months and noted recently the KXPA100's
power switch was set to on. For quite some time, I kept hearing a recurring
tick and only realized a week ago that the KXPA100 was turning on and off
every so many seconds.

Fast forward to this evening and I'm setting back up because, like the
procrastinator I am, I'm participating in Winter Field Day tomorrow (from
home, long story). I better get ready, right? I connected the KX3 and the
KXPA100, did all the things, powered on the KX3 and switched PA Mode to
"On" and exited the menu. A few seconds later, it switched out of PA mode.
Back and forth I played that game 4-5 times and then stepped back...

   - The 2.5mm tipped cable was pinched in between a case and its cover,
   but doesn't appear to be broken.
   - I checked the pinouts based on the Cady book and I have continuity in
   all lines
   - I connected the KXPA100 via USB serial cable and launched the KXPA
   utility. There are a number of fault codes, but none that appear when this
   switches off
   - No fault code appears on the "Operate" tab either
   - It just... switches off

Am I overlooking something obvious? It's been 100% reliable for me for a
good 5 years now, so I'm really unclear what could be happening.
