Tony: I think it’s just an excuse that some hams use for saying they won’t accept returns. I’m sure it’s happened on rare occasions, but I’ve bought and sold a lot gear on qth.com, and a few other places, over the years and I’ve found the vast majority of hams to be honest. I have dealt with a few scammers, but that’s a different issue. They are invariably non-hams who are posing as hams. In all the time I’ve engaged in online trading of ham gear, I’ve only run into one dishonest ham, but he seemed to be suffering from some kind of mental disorder. If you insist on being paid via PayPal you’ll be protected. That’s my two cents worth. — 73 de Carl
