The failure that lead me to a new CM-500 was a broken microphone 
attachment to the headphone. If I was CW/digital only, no 
microphone might be an improvement. :-)

BTW, I got the replacement from B&H sales who listed it as a 
dynamic microphone. It isn't dynamic. It is electret and 
requires a "bias" voltage either from the radio or using the 
supplied battery holder.
