[Elecraft] KAT 500 Firmware

Hello Bob,

I had this happen a while back and it turned out the Q! and Q2 (transistors
that control the send and receive lines on the com port) were in operatable.
When I replaced them, then KAT500 could send and receive from the utility. I
will tell you that it is a tight fit and the transistors are SMD.


This is found on page 5 of the KAT500 schematic .

Just my experience and thoughts on what might be wrong.

I tried to install the new firmware this morning with the following error:

 

When the KAT500 utility connects to the port, it says unexpected device.  

 

Then I go to the main screen in the utility, and it is not reading any
information from the KAT 500.  There is obviously no communication with the
KAT 500 in spite of the port being confirmed open.  No installed version
info and Send Firmware is grayed out.

 

I tried the force firmware mode, but my manual led does not stop blinking
until I remove power.
