If you have a K2/10 with KIO2, then you can put the PA key kit inside 
the housing of a DE9 connector. No need to drill holes: all the magic is 
in the cable connecting to the "AUX IO" connector.

I added another transistor and a LED to verify working of the PTT cable. 
It all fits on a small piece of perfboard inside the housing of the 
connector.

As to K2 vs other radios, I find I prefer the K2 to the K3 for sat work 
  because the K3 has rather more birdies on 10m. But I do 
agree:important bit of the fun of the K2 is to build and modify it.
