I used to have a plaque on the wall in my office that read:

 

Software is never finished

                  ... it's abandoned.

 

I believe it’s true that software is as much art as science.  In fact, Leonardo da Vinci is widely credited with having said it first:

 

Art is never finished, only abandoned.
