Pete,

Digital A is the correct K3 setting for all digital modes except RTTY.
The equalizer is disabled in Digital A. The computer should feed the
Line Input.

Both the KPA500 and KPA1500 are least efficient on 6M, which means that
they produce the greatest heat on that band. My KPA1500 arrived July 6,
right in the middle of E-skip season on 6M. I ran it as close as
possible to 1500W, always using WSTT-X for either FT8 or MSK144. It got
hot enough for the fans to get loud after 10-15 minutes, and eventually
they get SCREAMING LOUD. But the amp continues to be happy. When it
isn't, it will back off power a dB or two.

I haven't used it much on HF yet, but those who have report that it's
reasonably quiet in heavy duty CW or SSB contesting use.
