If you do FT4 and FT8 right, as in using WSJT-X "split mode", the signal modulation frequency cannot be outside the range 1,500 to 2,000 Hz.  Why would it be desirable to have a flat TX equalizer response?

Flat is certainly desirable for RX and for some rigs Flat is not the same a None.
