Ed,

Did you ever install any Prolific USB devices in your system?  Prolific
Device Drivers are buggy and can often interfere with the FTDI drivers.
Prolific Device Drivers can be uninstalled.

You can use the free USBDeview facility to look for this:

https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to download the 64-bit
version, (direct link https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usbdeview-x64.zip).
Unzip to empty directory, then run usbdeview.exe.  Scroll way over to the
right and click on the column header "Device Mfg" to sort by that column.
Look for "Prolific" in the list.  Right click and uninstall.  Then reboot
and reconnect the USB cable to the KPA1500.

If it's still not recognized, you may have a bad USB port on your amp.
