I had the same problem when I first got my KX2.  The CW weighting was set  
for 1.0; I changed it to 1.25 for a better dit-to-dah ratio and my sent CW  
became much more readable.  Don't know if that addresses your problem, but  
worth checking.  The reader does seem to slice certain letters into two  
(like F into I N) if you're not real snappy :-)
