Are you running the K3 by itself or connected to a computer?
If computer connected, what logging software is running?

With no computer connected, my K3 FW 5.29 retains the last used
data submode on each band across power cycles.  With a computer
connected, the logging program selects the data sub-mode at
start-up based on its digital interface settings.
