[Elecraft] K2 SSB option performance penalty?

Harry...

There is no CW performance penalty when the SSB option board is
installed. The filter can be setup for CW independent of the SSB board
filter when receiving. The K2 can be configured to use the K2 basic
filter in a wide/ssb mode when receiving, but this is a less than an
optimal setup. The SSB filter on the option board is optimized for SSB
and is the filter that one would normally use for SSB reception. This
selection is made in the filter setup menu that will reflect the
presence of the SSB board. One can setup the stock K2 filter to provide
a bandpass that is narrower than the filter on the SSB option board, and
this might appeal to the operating style/ears of an individual user. I
set up mine that way. However, while not operating SSB very much, I find
that I hardly ever use the "narrow" filter so configured. I am virtually
always using the SSB board filter for receiving. Others will no doubt
say this more accurately/clearly, so wait till you get the full response.
