I do not run the Elecraft transverters but have had a series of VHF
amps by Mirage, Klitzing, and RFConcepts. The last is my favorite
and I have two 2w/35w linears that need repair and my second 30w/170w
RFConcepts linear. I finally blew up the first one by being
long-winded on FM, though I ran it with JT65 for years using a fan for cooling.

Klitzing amps are long out of production, though Jim, W6PQL, is
producing some 1kw sspa's these days.

Mirage are fine though nothing special. I've heard the same about TE
amps. Caveat Emptor on any used amps regardless of mfr. I have had
the worst luck with used amps bought at flea markets vs Ebay (Or off
the reflectors). Better to buy from someone you know.

ditto on building your own. There is no reason to do that with all
that's available being manufactured.

Eventually, I will repair my pile of 2m amps and sell them at cost of repair.

PS: I run the KX3 at 5w to drive a DEMI transverter to 13w into a
Mirage B108 which I am able to get 50w from. The Mirage is a tired
old brown face unit so does OK. I use this mainly on 2m FM. The
transverter will be sold when I get the new Elecraft 2M unit for the
KX3. The Mirage gives 30w with 2w drive.
