[Elecraft] KAT500 problem

In your original post you say that you turned on the KPA100 in the
K3. You should have the KPA100 turned off when using the KAT500. The
KAT100 is not needed when using the KAT500.

Make sure that when you are tuning with the KAT500 the TUNE POWER is
set to 25W. Below 20W will not give an accurate tune-up.
Instructions for adjusting the TUNE POWER are in the K3 manual.

Also, you should tune the KAT500 by using the TUNE button on the K3.
Instructions for using the TUNE button are also in the K3 manual.

My recommendation is that you check all of your KAT500 and KPA500
connections carefully by referring to the manuals for each one and
then read the tuning procedure for the KAT500 in the manual,
following each step carefully.

Good luck!

.the display "froze" a few characters into the "welcome K4TM" message and the power button would not turn the K3 off - I had to turn the Astron 35M off to cut power to the K3. When I turned the K3 on again, I get a blank screen and must shut the power supply off to turn the K3.

the display blinked a few times and no ERR message showed before it shut down.

also, when I go to tune the KAT500 and tap the TUNE button, the AUTO begins to flash but when I key the mic (HEIL MD-2) with audio it clicks and clacks for awhile and SWR drops to 1.2
>>>> When I then put the KPA-500 in operate, I get red lights for high SWR and the amp goes to STBY with the FAULT light lit and the K3 shows FAULT 9 which the manual is "excessive reflected power (high SWR). Well, the KAT500 says otherwise and I am at a loss to figure it out.
