[Elecraft] KX3 Mobile installation

I have some recent experience Daniel. Within the last 6 months I installed a TarHeel screwdriver and FT-450D which is now replaced with a TS-480HX. Do you plan to add an amplifier?

I found some good help in the web as recommended by other hams I respect. The sites are:
<http://www.w8ji.com/mobile_ground.htm> - this is a great resource for safely running power to the rig if you plan to use a standard negative ground installation. You can follow his link to the UK Code of Practice for mobile radios.

<WB5TOM.com> - check out his notes on the Subaru installation. Inovative way to power the rig without running a bunch of extra heavy power cables. This is how I would power a KX3 if that were my choice.

<K0BG.com> has a lot of information on mobile installation with detail broken out for each sub topic.

God Bless & 73!

Subject: [Elecraft] KX3 Mobile installation

Hey, I'm preparing to install my KX3, sn 1213, in an older (1990) Ford
pickup. Anyone out there who has done this with their KX3? Any comments on
installation? What antenna do you use? This will be my first mobile install
so any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Daniel Helmer, KL2FR
