Hi all,
We've added the K3's switch macro feature to the KX3. This allows you
to automate often-used remote-control command sequences by assigning
them to PF1 or PF2. KX3 Utility is used to create the macros and send
them to the KX3.
For example, you could create a "SPLIT+2" switch function that, with a
single press of PF1 or PF2, does A>B twice (to copy all VFO A settings
to VFO B), enters SPLIT, and moves VFO B up 2 kHz.
Other examples:
- use PF1 to set up TX EQ for one mic and PF2 for another
- go to a favorite frequency/mode without having to change bands first
- restore power, code speed, filter bandwidth, etc., to your favorite
settings
Given the KX3's rich command set, many other custom functions can be
created. For more examples and instructions, see KX3 Utility's Help
information, or pages 5 and 6 of the K3/KX3 Programmer's Reference:
http://www.elecraft.com/manual/K3&KX3%20Pgmrs%20Ref,%20E2.pdf
(The Programmer's Reference will be updated to include any special
instructions for the KX3.)
I'm looking for a few volunteers to try the latest KX3 field-test
firmware, which includes the macro feature. Please email me directly
if you're interested.

Wayne
