Hello Dave!

It's all about stability. I used an XG3 to do the calibration of my KX3 
during the development and testing phase of the calibration procedure.

If the XG3 is to be battery powered, use a fresh battery.

Do the calibration in a reasonably temperature stable environment.  Let 
the XG3 run for 5 to 10 minutes.  This gets a bit tricky since the XG3 
wants to turn itself off, so you need to be sure that doesn't happen.

Then, go for it!
