[Elecraft] KRC2 Modified Firmware?

I would like to use a KRC2 at my remote station to control various relays.

This would require either new or modified firmware as the standard firmware
listens to a radio's CAT port and decode band information.

I would like communicate with the KRC2 via a terminal program such as
HyperTerminal and manually enter commands to actuate the relays.

I have been thinking about writing my own program for the PIC16 but if
someone has already done this, I would like to talk to them.
