I used an AL-811H for many years with my K3. Coax connection and PTT is all
that is needed.
Some other things to think about:
- Ameritron 811H only need about 60 watts or so to drive it. At the
beginning, I ran about 100 watts into the amp, but after a few years I
noticed that the finals had silvery spots on the grids. That's because I was
over driving the amp and melted the them. Only use enough in to get the
required out. 60 to 70 watts is plenty on that amp.

Not an AL-811, but I've used an AL-1200 with my K3. I used an RCA cable for
amplifier keying and a PL-259 jumper for RF.
I did not connect ALC, I instead adjusted the K3's power output as
appropriate.

Subject: [Elecraft] K3 to Al-811 Amplifier
Hi Guys, I would like to hook up my K3 to an Ameritron Al-811 Amplifier. I
assume that I connect the K3 output to the Amplifier Input. An the Keying
Cable that is in the back to the Relay Plug on the Al-811? I see an ALC
Output and ALC Adjustment knob. But I probably don't need to use those. But
then again I could be wrong. Has anyone used the AL-811 with the K3? Thanks
in advance. Mark Griffin, KB3Z
