'Weight' is dot to space ratio. The duration of the dots is derived from the speed and the dot-space ratio, and the dash duration is then derived from the dot duration and the dot-dash ratio.
Although there seems to be disagreement about the most pleasing weight, most CW operators prefer a precise 1-3 dot-dash ratio.
