[Elecraft] CW WGT observations and measurements

Hi Ralph,
You know, I've always thought that weighting referred to the Dah:dit
ratio, and some references out there in googleland say that. Others
(K1EL winkey documentation has a good explanation) support that it is
the Dit:space ratio that changes. In any event, the K3 and the KX3 are
different and they don't preserve the 3:1 Dah:dit that I like to hear.
Cheers and 73,
Fred

With all due respect to Fred, I think that's because the K3 (and
probably the KX3) weight adjustment seems not to change the weight at
all, just the ratio.
'Weight' will add a bit of time to each dot/dash character equally, and
preserve the 1:3 and 1:1 ratios. (Am I opening a can of worms here?)
I use a version of the Super CMOS keyer, and like to add a bit of
weight.
I can also do it within the control software for my microHam keyers.
Another reason to use an external keyer, IMHO.
