[Elecraft] K3 and TRlog

Its unlikely that we will be changing I have tried but there is
resistance. The advantage of TRlog is that it can be run right off a
thumbdrive. and all the log files etc will remain on the thumbdrive so
we have thumbdrive dedicated to each band. (we used to use floppies for
this.) we don't have club computers so so we end up with a mix of
private laptops allong with the mixed feelings of their owners to fool
with networking etc. in our process To change bands the opps must use
the thumb drive for that band. This avoids two things. less likely two
stations will be using the same band, and there is a common log for the
band so that regardless of the radio used there they are alerted to
dups. networking would solve the latter but see above. Ive tried and
I may try again at the FD meeting to convince them to use N1MM but I
have doubts that they will go for it.

I too love N1mm and use it myself for contests and I am considering as
my only logger but for field day not so at least here as is complex and
an op that is not familiar can get things messed up easy. Ive seen this
and I don't want to be Mr. fix the software when Id rather be raking in
the point. On field day we get a lot of different ops with different
and sometimes lacking computer skills.

TR4W well its nice but there is very lacking documentation. It
claims network ability but I cant find out how. it is not mentioned in
the "draft" documentation that I managed to hunt down as the
documentation on the website takes you to the original TRlog document
files. so TR4W is definitly out.

there are a few others but we run into the network thing that seems to
be such an unfortunate roadblock. I will try!
