[Elecraft] [K3] New 472kHz LF band

This has been asked before and Wayne has indicated that K3 cannot be
extended below 490-KHz. I am using my K3 on the 495-510 KHz
experimental band as a driver for a 100w transmitter (4.15w
ERP). You need the KXV3 transverter I/F and the KBPF3 general
coverage filter for the K3 to operate on 500-KHz. Then you operate
at 0 dBm output by entering the TEST mode. You need some linear
amplification for useful transmit power. For the new band ERP=1w
implies an amp with 25w output.

To extend use of the K3 lower in frequency a transverter can be made. Look at:

But there is another solution: The KX3 will tune to 310-KHz if you
have the internal ATU. Wayne wrote me that they have not determined
if an external LP filters will be needed, so look at:
http://w1vd.com/LPF.pdf
Also they are not sure what the KX3 output power level will be (my
guess 20mw -1w).

I see from the report of WRC-12 that a new band 472-479kHz is to be
allocated on a world-wide basis with an eirp of 5W (1W in some
countries). The K3 receiver currently goes down to 490kHz. Is there
any likelihood that this could be extended down to cover the new band?
