*Good afternoon, All.*
*
*
*Merry CHRISTmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year to all of you and your
families.*
*
*
*I have KX3-k, S/N 2917 up and running. It has ALL the options that are
available at this time: including the KXBC3 in particular.*
*
*
*I've just installed fully [externally charged] **(8) NiMH
Rayovac Platinum Batteries into the rig. Made a CW contact using 3w. So,
I thought I would try-out the charging feature. I seriously had my doubts
about the "intelligence" of the charging system. Well, if you have doubts,
DON'T. It's simply amazing!*
*
*
*I was going to "top off" the Batteries since I could and I had the
capability. I read and re-read the Option's Manual & my Owner's Manual
about these features. It said IF I had the charging feature turned ON and
IF I was to attempt to turn the KX3 OFF [you know, push the "BAND & ATU
TUNE" simultaneously], the display would indicate how much time remaining
yet for the charging cycle to the batteries before the rig would turn
itself OFF automatically. Well, it did just exactly that: read on!
*
*
*
*Well, I set the Charger for 4 hours [just to "top off" the batteries] and
then I attempted to turn my KX3 OFF. Well, sure enough the rig stayed on
kinda [since the Charging Cycle wasn't completed"], the display indicated
the time REMAINING to finish the charging cycle [even counting down for me
as I'm not technical orientated and definitely I'm mentally-challenged] and
the display was telling me exactly what the rig was doing and how long it
was going to be doing it by showing "BAT CHG".*
*
*
*The charger-timer had a little over 3 hours left to go when we had to
leave for several hours. When we returned after about 4 hours, the KX3 was
completely dark [OFF] and when I checked the Battery [BT] voltage, I found
the Battery voltage was at 11.35vdc. It had even switched the "BAT CHG" to
the OFF position. Now how cool is that and that's what I'd call SUPER FB!
*
*
*
*Is this little rig AMAZING OR WHAT? THANKS the Elecraft design team &
ALL contributors.*
*
*
*Don't doubt ANYTHING you read in your KX3 Owner's Manual [JRTDM] about
what this rig can or will do because you will come away with pie on your
face as I did!*
*
*
*Best 72 & 73.*
