Jim, from the Owner's manual on page 7:

"Optional: RS232 (XVCR) {8} connects the KPA500 to a Kenwood transceiver
using a standard 9-pin
serial cable. This connector cannot be used to update KPA500 firmware (see
pg 14)"

I notice the KPA500 has two serial ports (in/out). Is it permissible to add
it to the K3/P3 chain or will that cause issues. So far the K3/P3 serial
chain works fine when loading K3 firmware.
