[Elecraft] P3 external knob for QSY and tap

Hi ! In consequence of my shack layout my k3 and p3 are located above the LCD
monitor in a good position for me to look at them but not so confortable to
press button or rotate knobs. It's not a big problem because I always keep
Ham Radio Deluxe opened for log and CAT so quite never I need to touch k3
panel. 
It's not the same for p3 and here is my (funny probably) question : it
should be thinkable to provide connection to an external serial or usb knob
(something like Tmate http://www.woodboxradio.com/uk/tmate.html for example)
to replicate p3 knob functionality ? For me it would mean having it on the
desk close to computer keyboard and it will make qsy and tapping easier ?
