I just looked at the instructions on that link.  One thing that is not 
mentioned on the K3 setup is that you must set the K3 mark frequency and 
shift to match the mark frequency and shift settings in MMTTY - to do 
that, while in DATA A mode, hold the PITCH button and rotate VFO A to 
indicate 2125 - 170.
Also check that you are on LSB for DATA mode.

As far as PTT, set CONFIG: PTT-KEY to DTR - off.    The K3 TX LED should 
come on when MMTTY is transmitting (set VOX off).

I believe those instructions have an error - it seems to tell you to set 
"Ways to send" to Character out - which would send KY commands with 
ASCII text to the K3.  I believe "Ways to send" should be set to Line 
Out instead.
The K3 will not accept an ASCII string in AFSK A data mode - but will in 
FSK-D data sub-mode.   Perhaps someone more familiar with MMTTY than I 
can comment on why "Ways to send" should be set to Character Out.

You can use a stereo cable between the computer and K3 line in jack - 
yes, the jack is marked mono, because only the left channel is 
connected, but the jack is stereo.  There may be a situation with your 
computer where it does not like the mono plug in the line out, so try 
using a stereo cable.  You can plug the cable from line-out into an 
audio amplifier to see if you are getting sound from the line out.
