[Elecraft] Remote encoder?

There appear to be two versions of the Grifin Pod. Does it matter wjhch one
I get?

Yes, other buttons would be great, and I would think this could be done
using some other brand of device (thre are encoders with buttons). I'm not a
programmer -- to say the least -- but I have worked with many over time.
I'd like to think this is doable --
