[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report for May 23rd & 24th, 2010

Good Evening,
Twenty meters was pretty good this evening. Forty meters seemed to be more problematic ;) Weather reports were much nicer to my east than they were to my south. I did get a few reports of pleasant weather in California but also had two others with chilly temperatures. It was all a matter of how close one lived to the ocean. I live at altitude but am not far from the Pacific. A blast from the Gulf of Alaska traveled as far south as Baja but did not get far onshore.
The sun has awakened once again. Sunspot 1072 has grown rapidly and now threatens us with possible C-class flares. However, if they do not happen soon the flares will pass by without effecting the earth. Exciting to watch but not helpful for propagation. Maybe more spots will sprout in the next few weeks to keep our ionosphere well fed. I would enjoy having the MUF rise above twenty meters or even higher. Sporadic Es have begun though. 6 meter CW contacts are a hoot. Distant ones are even more fun.

I am still working on the database so there will be gaps in my reports until it is rebuilt. I now have three working computers, each with a copy of the database. I will not lose it again. I do need to worry about update order but with CVS in place it should be easier. If you wish to supply a fill for any gap in the above list, or corrections, please email them to me.
   Until next week stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
