If you go to Lowes or Homely Depot and look in the Electrical section you will find a variety of staples for non-metallic cable (a.k.a. Romex (c) ) that consist of a plastic bridge with nails inserted into two holes at the ends. They come in a variety of sizes. 

Pull out the nails and the holes in the plastic bridges will probably be a good size for a tight slip fit for the wire you're using - OK, maybe you will have to chase the holes with a drill to get the right size. 

Of course, there's a lot of work involved to slip the wires through all the spacers - As is true of the 25 cent nylon spacers described in the first post on this topic. But the staples are a heck of a lot cheaper! Plus, you end up with a bunch of nails as a bonus.

I don't know what the UV resistance of the plastic material is, but I did have a ladder line like this up for several years with no apparent degradation.
