Michael - Early XV144 transverters had a 5A resettable fuse and I note
from the latest manual that this has been replaced with an 8A resettable
fuse. Also, the later XV144 has ventilation holes in the top and bottom
covers.

I had a similar problem in that my XV144 cut out while transmitting and
could only be reset by powering down and then applying power again.

I replaced the original 5A fuse with an 8A and drilled holes like those
in the XV432 and later XV144. I also added a fan and drilled holes in
the PCB similar to those in the XV432.

My XV144 now runs much cooler and does not cut out like it did before.
