[Elecraft] N1MM config questions

I would like to thank one and all for their advice including those who
replied directly off line with screen shots. I can run N1MM with just one
serial cable and 2 audio cables, the way I thought I could!
My USB <-> Serial cable uses the FTDI chip set which I prefer. We will see
how well it works in a CW test. I suspect I have enough raw computing power
to make it so without using Winkey or some other add-ons (hopefully). I am
fortunate to have an Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.8 Ghz with 4 Gb RAM running XP
(on a 24" iMac no less) and it is zippy.
I have never quite figured out how to use my 8 pin mics to record directly
into N1MM Logger. As a result, my pre-recorded computer audio transmitted
from the PC does not match live audio and I just can't get all the levels to
right. It should be possible now that the K3 allows the use mic and line at
the same time. I notice these strange changes in audio frequently during
contests from other stations.
So if any of you can enlighten me, please do so. I bet it's easy. I probably
will want to try this after ARRL SSB DX this weekend. Sometimes (for me
anyway), making things work the way they are supposed to is just as much fun
as the actual contest. Perhaps my scores will go up eventually....
Thanks so much!
