That would be ARR.  I have one. It works well, BUT -- I had to send 
it back three times because the GasFET blew due to TX power (and I 
was running 100W). The last fix worked. Don't know what they did. 

I'll echo what Bill, W5WVO said on the effect of the preamp. If you 
live in a quiet location, it makes at least a 3dB difference in 
hearing weak signals, maybe more. If you've got a lot of local 
noise, all you'll do is amplify the noise. My QTH is pretty quiet in 
most directions most of the time.
