Have you searched the reflector or the website for past
communications on the topics that interest you? There are
engineering reasons why you can transmit through some filters and
not others. These are not firmware issues, they are RF design
issues. Elecraft has very good engineers, and they tend to make
good decisions. Vacation? Although I have no inside information,
I'd bet that they're working on design and manufacturing of the
P3, and on the ongoing upgrades to firmware.
In case you haven't noticed, we're in a worldwide recession, and
even the largest of companies are paying careful attention to
their costs. Some have laid off people, few are hiring. Elecraft
has a small team of very good engineers -- they're neighbors, so I
know some of them. They're peddling as fast as they can, while
remaining fiscally responsible so that they can stay in biz to
support us, their customers.
As to responsiveness -- I'd be interested to hear your experience
communicating with engineers or management at Yaesu, Kenwood,
Icom, or Ten Tec IN ANY TIMEFRAME. In the past month, I've
exchanged four emails with Wayne Burdick on technical issues that
concern me and that I felt should concern him. Both Wayne and Eric
monitor this reflector regularly, and comment when needed to
support their customers. They are the OWNERS, and Wayne is the
chief engineer. Lyle Johnson, who is responsible for firmware,
also monitors the reflector and contributes.
Support is the solving of problems, NOT responding to wish lists,
or providing personal answers to questions about delivery times of
future products. Go to the website for that info. Or call the
office during business hours. Yes, I see that you're in VK. I have
that same issue with Yaesu, Icom, and Kenwood. :)
