That is a great suggestion, but it's not limited to Firefox. I do that with
I.E. Explorer 8 and Google Chrome (except no browser add-on or account
information is needed).

Put ftp://ftp.elecraft.com/K3/firmware/beta in the URL window and hit
"enter".

The list of zip files appears. With I.E. 8, right click on it and select
SAVE AS in the window that pops up to save it to a local folder.

In Chrome a double click automatically saves the file to a preselected local
folder.

Running Vista you don't need to open the browser. Just put the ftp address
in the search window opened by clicking START. Click on the folder from the
elecraft web site and a window opens where you can drag/drop or "save as"
the files to a local folder.

-----Original Message-----

this is for the users of Firefox,...

If you want to download a new beta in future, just start firefox, click
FireFTP, then CONNECT. FireFTP connects to the Elecraft FTP-server, you
will see the latest beta-firmware, e.g. k3fw3rxx.zip.
Drag and drop it to your local folder, Fire FTP will download it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, select OPEN and expand it to your
firmware-folder . Close Firefox and start K3-Utility.
Voila.
