[Elecraft] K3 RTTY

Bonjour Michel,

I am travelling right now without my radio, so I am going from memory, but
here are a couple of things to try:

First, the choice of radio type in the PTT & CAT configuration: in older
versions of MixW, there is a choice between Elecraft K2 and All Kenwoods.
With these versions, I have found that the All Kenwoods setting works
better than the Elecraft K2 setting. Data modes work differently on the K3
compared to the K2, but the K3's FSK D mode is very similar to the Kenwood
FSK mode. Therefore if you choose All Kenwoods, it should work well for
FSK D on the K3. In MixW version 2.19, there is a setting for Elecraft
K2,K3, but I do not know how well it supports the K3's FSK D mode. Try
both settings to see if this makes any difference.

If your K3's pitch in FSK D is set to 2125, I would recommend setting the
FSK center fq in MixW to 2210 Hz, i.e. 85 Hz higher than the mark tone.
That should give you a tuning indicator labelled FSK with a yellow
background, with its two markers on 2125 Hz and 2295 Hz in the waterfall.
The frequency on the waterfall at the center of this tuning indicator
should be the same as the K3's dial reading, and the frequency in the log
window and in the MixW CAT bar should also be the same. If you tune in an
RTTY signal so that the two tones are aligned on the two markers on the
tuning indicator, the mark tone should be on 2125 Hz audio. You can check
this by using the K3's SPOT button to see if the spotting tone matches the
received mark tone.
