You need to be able to remove the sub receiver shielding in order to install
the KBPF3, so it does have to come out.

BTW, that's where I have mine installed and not on the main.

Subject: [Elecraft] [K3] : Installing KBPF3 in the sub-receiver

Hi Elecrafters,

I'm planning to perform most of the available enhancements on my K3/100
(#0615) with the objective of removing only once the KRX3 module. The
question I have : is it possible to install a KBPF3 module in the
subreceiver without removing the KRX3 module (provided, of course, that the
two KBPF3 1/2" standoffs are already mounted on the KRX3 board).

In the KBPF3 installation manual (Revision D - June 24, 2008), it is clearly
stated page 7 that "If your K3 is equipped with the optional KRX3
subreceiver, you must remove the subreceiver module to install the KBPF3 in
either the main receiver or the subreceiver."

Nevertheless, when I read the KRX3 assembly manual, I have the feeling that
it should be possible to install the KBPF3 module in the subreceiver without
removing the KRX3 module.

Could somebody clarify this issue ?

Thanks and 73,
de Raymond, F4FNT.
