[Elecraft] Torture Testing K3/100 #1278...

I had a similar experience a few weeks back -- tuned up a 20m
hamstick dipole on 40m just for grins and had smoke come out when I
started using the rig. Returning to more normal conditions, it seemed
fine, but I took it to the bench anyway and pulled out the ATU and the PA.
I couldn't find anything that looked unhappy. The ATU had given me a flat
match, so I assumed that the PA was fine and the ATU was overheating. I
chalked the smoke up to left over flux burning off one of the ATU toroids
(there was a white reside at the base of one of them), but I never did
find anything conclusive. I might have had a better idea if I'd been able
to smell something, but whatever it was, it didn't leave an obvious oder.
